Location About Schallmoos:
Schallmoos is a district of the Austrian city of Salzburg, in the state of Salzburg. It is located northeast of the historic old town and north of the Kapuzinerberg. Schallmoos is one of the younger districts of Salzburg, despite its close location to the city center. The original moorland was cultivated in the 17th century and turned into agricultural land. Today, commercial and industrial enterprises as well as residential areas dominate.
To the southwest, Schallmoos borders Neustadt, with the border between the two districts running through the Lasserstrasse area. To the west, north and northeast, Schallmoos is clearly separated from the neighboring districts of Elisabeth-Vorstadt, Itzling and Gnigl: the route of the Westbahn and Salzburg-Tiroler Bahn (Giselabahn) runs around the Schallmoos area. In the very southeast, Schallmoos also borders on the district of Parsch at Anton-Graf-Strasse or Fürbergstrasse. The remaining southern border is formed by the foot of the Kapuzinerberg.
Schallmoos is a heterogeneous district without a central location; the development structure ranges from inner-city houses in the transition area to Neustadt (old suburban areas) to large new office buildings, especially on Sterneckstraße, to apartment blocks and commercial areas.
